How to Make Dark Chocolate Sauce

This dark, sweet sauce is heaven on vanilla ice cream. Better, it's actually not too bad for you (in fat content, at least). Makes ¾ cup.

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup of firmly packed dark brown sugars
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butters (cut into pieces)
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butters (cut into pieces)
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of firmly packed dark brown sugars
  1. Step 1

    In a heavy saucepan, heat water with sugar over moderate heat.

  2. Step 2

    Whisk until sugar is dissolved.

  3. Step 3

    Add cocoa powder and salt, and whisk mixture until smooth.

  4. Step 4

    Add butter and vanilla and whisk until butter is melted.
