Understand that Mattel has a series of Barbie dolls called "Dolls of the World."

Know that only two or three nationalities are created each year. The 1999 dolls are Austrian, Peruvian and Moroccan.

Realize that the line began in 1980, and older dolls cannot be located in stores. You will need to purchase all but the dolls of the last few years from collectors.
