How to Install a Sports Seat

In theory, installing aftermarket sports seats is an easy job - it's just screws and bolts; in reality, you'll be wrestling with unwieldy objects while in pretzel-like body positions.

Things You'll Need:

  • Car Seats
  • Pliers
  • Screwdriver Bits
  • Screwdriver Sets
  • Variable-speed Drills
  • Pliers
  1. Step 1

    Gather the following tools: pliers, screwdriver and a drill with a screwdriver bit.

  2. Step 2

    Read the owner's manual and installation instructions that come with the seats.

  3. Step 3

    Make certain you have all adapter kits you need to fit the seats properly into your car.

  4. Step 4

    Unbolt the original seats from the rails they are attached to. Notice how the seats were attached to the rails.

  5. Step 5

    Lift the seat out of the car.

  6. Step 6

    Bolt the new seats to the rails using the adapter kit if necessary.

  7. Step 7

    Move the seat back and forth, recline it and place it back in the original position to be certain that it fits properly in the car and that there are no obstructions to its movement.
