There isn't anything in your car that you can't exchange to help it perform better or look more stylish. One of the things you can replace to give your car a sportier look is the original steering wheel.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Steering Wheel

    Select the Steering Wheel

  1. Step 1

Measure your original steering wheel to find the size your new steering wheel needs to be.

  2. Step 2

Make certain that the new steering wheel won't obstruct your view of gauges on the dashboard.

  3. Step 3

Select a store from which to buy the wheel. Auto chain stores such as Pep Boys as well as independent auto stores such as tire shops, truck accessory stores and shops that sell car stereo products carry steering wheels. Not all stores that carry steering wheels can install them. If you want your steering wheel installed for you, ask whether the shop will do that work.

  4. At the Store

  5. Step 1

Determine what style steering wheel you want. There are four-spoke wheels, three-spoke wheels, multi-color wheels, boomerang-style wheels, ultratech-style wheels, Formula GT-style racing wheels and Formula One-style racing wheels, among others.

  6. Step 2

Decide what finish you want your wheel to have. There are wood wheels, vinyl wheels, leather wheels and carbon fiber wheels.

  7. Step 3

Select the wheel that is the proper size for your car and is most cosmetically pleasing and comfortable for you to use.
