You're a benevolent man (or woman) of the people, filled with charity and good will. Your respect for the common golfer is boundless. You just don't want to share your fairways with the public every day. There's only one solution. Get yourself into the most exclusive golf club and savor the solitude of the well-heeled.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Prepare to pay a premium. You get what you pay for sometimes, and this is one of those times.

  2. Step 2

Take golf lessons. Do not underestimate the need to impress people with your ability. Solid skills can make up for any negative qualities that others (mistakenly) may believe you possess.

  3. Step 3

Find a sponsor. Unless you recently appeared on the cover of BusinessWeek, you probably need to have an existing member pass your application to the membership committee.

  4. Step 4

Review the different tiers of membership. Equity members own the facilities and usually make club decisions. Social members pay lower dues but have restricted access to facilities.

  5. Step 5

Decide what else you want to do besides play golf and investigate the facilities at various clubs. Some also have spas, tennis courts, swimming pools and gyms.

  6. Step 6

Look into member benefits, primarily reserved tee times during peak periods. Also consider access to club buildings for private events such as parties and weddings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Approach any membership with interest but restraint. The club wants members who add to their atmosphere, not ones who are merely there to absorb it.
