Any business that rents equipment will go through that equipment much faster than normal people, and often they will sell it when it's only slightly worn. This includes camping gear, car rentals, furniture rentals, and just about anything you can possibly rent. Look for rental equipment sales at the end of the season for that type of equipment, for example, camping has two seasons: summer and winter, the rental stores typically sell all the old gear to make room for the new during spring and fall.

Freecycling is offering things for nothing in order to have someone take it away for you. You may have a group based close to you, who will usually have a mailing list (email or regular post) or advertise in local newspapers. You'll find a variety of (mostly used) stuff like furniture, baby clothes, old computer hardware, books, etc.
