How to Use Collages to Make Holiday Cards

This is a fun family project to do after supper or on a cold Saturday afternoon. A collage is an artistic grouping of materials or pictures pasted over a surface. Use "How to Make Envelopes" to match your cards.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Purchase 5 by 7-inch card blanks or 10 by 14-inch sheets of card stock, medium-weight watercolor paper, or construction paper to use as your card base.

  2. Step 2

    Purchase envelopes to fit or make your own.

  3. Step 3

    Fold card paper lengthwise so it measurers 5 by 14 inches and cut in half - making two 5 by 7-inch cards.

  4. Step 4

    Use old cards, magazines, comics or anything with bright pictures as cutouts.

  5. Step 5

    Glue shapes to card, overlapping pieces to give your card a 3-D effect.

  6. Step 6

    Cover collage with clear contact paper.

  7. Step 7

    Trim edges.

Tips & Warnings
  • Copies of family photos cut into different shapes make good keepsakes.
  • Make copies of your favorite pictures to cut up for your collages.
