Instructions
-
-
1
Purchase 1- to 2-inch clay pots from the nursery or craft store. Make sure that they have a drainage hole in the bottom.
-
2
Purchase raffia from the craft store.
-
-
3
Wrap strands of raffia around a 4- to 6-inch square of cardboard until you have a fat bundle.
-
4
Thread several pieces of raffia through one end of the bundle. Tie them off tightly so that you have all the raffia tied together at one end.
-
5
Cut the opposite end of the raffia with scissors so that you have a pom-pom.
-
6
Thread the strands of raffia that you used to tie off the pom-pom through the drain hole in the clay pot. The cut ends should be protruding from the mouth of the pot. Tie a large knot close to the drain hole so that the pom-pom won't slip back through.
-
7
Make a loop in the drain hole end so that you can hang your tassel from the tree.

Tips & Warnings
Use gold cord or thin ribbon to thread through the drain hole for a more formal-looking tassel.
Make sure that the knot at the drain hole is large enough to prevent the pom-pom from slipping through.
