Make Dog Treats Ornaments

Christmas is celebrated all over the world, and not just by humans. Here is a very simple project you can do to let your dog know that he is part of the family, too. Ornaments made from bone-shaped doggy treats can be hung from the tree to let your canine friends know you care.

    Things You'll Need

    • Raffia
    • Ribbons
    • Dog Treats
    • Scissors
    • Lacquer
      • 1

Purchase bone-shaped dog treats. (They come in different sizes to accommodate the appetites of different-sized doggies.) Get the next larger size than is recommended for your hound, and watch his tail wag!

      • 2

Wrap the treat at the midpoint with raffia, leaving just a bit of space to thread some red ribbon. Tie a knot in the raffia.

      • 3

Thread the red ribbon through the raffia. Make a loop to hang the bone from the tree, and finish with a big bow on top.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If you think your naughty dog might steal the treat from the tree, you can dip the bone into lacquer and let it dry before adding the decorations. The additional step will mask the tantalizing odor from all but the most olfactory-gifted hounds.

    • Use unwired ribbon, just in case the worst happens and your dog eats the ornament. Ribbon and raffia will pass through a dog's system with a minimum of discomfort.
