Step 1
Educate yourself about the range of available services. Bodyguards are more than big guys with guns. Top security professionals are likely to have specialized driving skills, weapons training, risk avoidance skills and medical training.
-
Step 2
Look in the phone book or online for security services in your area. Verify that the companies are licensed to operate within your state and that they are committed to working within the law.
-
Step 3
If you still feel unsafe, consider a new line of work--or new friends.

on 8/8/2008 Im not a bodyguard and have not trained as one but do have a lot of knowledge of the industry.
Two people I recommend are Peter Consterdine (Uk Based) and Robin Barratt (Spain). They both can be found on a google search and both work and organise security services in the UK and overseas. You will also find their bks on Amazon UK.

on 3/12/2008 Step 4 Find out what kind of specialized training that individual has. Simply being a bouncer or retired cop is not enough. There are several top schools for Executive Protection and your bodyguard should have attended at least one of them.
