Picking a pediatrician can be an anxiety-inducing job. This person will be not only your child's doctor, but your guide through sleepless nights of fever, earaches and croup. You want to find someone you trust, respect and see eye to eye with, and who your child feels good about. After all, their doc will care for them (and you) from the day you first bring them home until they graduate from high school.

on 6/23/2008 Very good article. I belive an interview with a child's future doctor is not only a good idea, but a necessity. I think another good thing to do is to take note of how your call was havdled when you made the appointment and how you were treated by the receptionist when you arrive at the office. These will be the people who will respond first to whatever situation you have with your child. If you have any doubts about them, but really like the doctor, ask the doctor if the receptionist has been with the office long and if they have voice your concerns with the doctor.
