Here's how to make sure your silk screen will live to print another day.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Mr. Clean
  • Pressure Washers Or Garden Hose
  • Water
  • Nail Brushes Or Soft Scrub Brush
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Safety Goggles

Step1
Clean all the ink off the silk screen. Use a pressure washer if you have one.
Step2
Pour Mr. Clean onto the surface of the silk screen.
Step3
Scrub lightly with a nail brush or soft scrub brush and let sit for five minutes.
Step4
Scrub the entire surface on both sides.
Step5
Rinse with water.
Step6
Repeat until all the screen filler is removed.
Step7
Hold the screen up to a window or bright light and tip to view it at different angles.
Step8
Scrub until it's clean no matter at which angle you view it.
Step9
Allow to air dry fully before storing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the pressure washer (in a pinch, a garden hose) to wash the screen out. If you don't have any kind of pressure device, washing will take longer and you'll scrub more.
  • Make sure to get the screen filler off the taped edges of the screen as well as off the middle.
  • Wear gloves and goggles: once it's dry, screen filler isn't toxic, but it won't do your skin any good either.
  • Don't scrub so hard you rip the screen.

on 8/8/2006 If you let Mr. Clean sit for about twenty minutes, the screen filler will come off easier. You'll probably have to do it several times with the five minute waiting period.
