How to Clean Candy From Carpet

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Mild Detergent
• Soft Dry Cloth
• White Vinegar
• Butter Knives

1. Pull out as much candy as you can with your fingers or scrape it up with a flat-edged, non-serrated knife.
2. Apply a small amount of mild liquid detergent directly to the stain.
3. Blot with a dry, white cloth.
4. Flood the stain with white vinegar.
5. Blot again with the cloth.
6. Apply a little more liquid detergent to the stain.
7. Blot with the cloth.
8. Flood the area with water.
9. Blot one last time until the carpet is dry.

Tips & Warnings

• Test the cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous part of the carpet before using them on a large area.
• Always use a white cloth rather than a colored one to prevent any dyes from coming off on the carpet.
• As you blot, keep turning the cloth so that you are using a clean, dry section to pick up the stain and cleaning fluids from the carpet. Don't rub.
• If using a brush to help clean the stain, always brush from the outer edges of the spill inward to prevent the stain from spreading.
