Sacramento International Airport's new Terminal A has doubled the airport's flight capacity, but delays can occur because of bad weather. Fortunately for the traveler, 22 new stores and eateries have also opened in Terminal A.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Figure out how much free time you will have. Check to see whether your flight is late and whether it will arrive at/depart from Terminal A or B.

  2. Step 2

Decide whether you would like to eat pizza, a burger, Chinese food or Mexican food or relax in a sports bar and grill. All of these selections can be found in Terminal A.

  3. Step 3

Browse through Terminal A's gift stores, but be aware that you may have to check in or ship larger items (see Warnings, below).

  4. Step 4

Consider spending the night in the Host Marriot Sacramento Airport Hotel - which can be reached at (916) 922-8071 - if your flight won't leave until the next day. The hotel is on airport property across from the terminals and has a spa and workout room for guests.

  5. Step 5

Use the white airport courtesy phones if you need further information.

Tips & Warnings
  • Periodically check the arrival or departure monitors located throughout the airport for any changes pertaining to your flight.
  • Always have a good paperback in your carry-on bag to help keep time moving during unavoidable delays in terminals and aboard airplanes.
  • If you are departing on a flight, you must check in at your gate at least an hour before the flight, longer for international flights. Check with your airline.
  • Keep in mind that many airlines have new carry-on restrictions and that you may have to check in larger purchases or have them shipped.

on 12/8/2006 Sacramento International Airport now offers free WiFi in the new terminal, so bring your laptop! A word of advice, however: electrical outlets are difficult to find.
