on 10/26/2007 While the end product is always the same, there are different ways to get there. One school I went to started the high block by twisting your waist and reaching across your body like you were trying to get something out of your opposite pocket. You then quickly twisted your hips back and thrust your arm in the air. There is a lot of power with this block. The school I attend now teaches to reach down to the groin area and sweep the arm upwards. While this is not as powerful, the sweeping motion is meant to clear your body of all oncoming attacks before the final block.
