How to Air to Fakie on a Snowboard

Turn 180 degrees in the air and land riding backward on your snowboard. This is a great first spin maneuver for an intermediate rider just getting a taste for aerial stunts.

Things You'll Need:

  • Helmets
  • Snowboard Bag
  • Snowboard Bindings
  • Snowboard Boots
  • Snowboard Clothing
  • Snowboard Goggles
  • Snowboard Hats
  • Snowboard Leash
  • Snowboards
  • Waxes
  • Helmets
  1. Step 1

    Learn to ride fakie so that you're comfortable with it.

  2. Step 2

    Approach a jump riding on your uphill rail with good speed.

  3. Step 3

    Crouch down and wind up your torso just a little to help you spin. Keep your head facing forward at all times.

  4. Step 4

    Hit the jump and leap up and unwind as you leave the lip.

  5. Step 5

    Pull your legs up in the air and spin 180 degrees.

  6. Step 6

    Land both feet at the same time, riding backward.

Tips & Warnings
  • Learn on a jump you're comfortable with that has good powder on the landing.
  • Figuring out the perfect windup takes practice. So practice.
  • Keep your head facing forward throughout the trick.
  • Become comfortable riding and jumping your snowboard before you start trying spinning aerial maneuvers.
  • Snowboarding is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.

on 11/22/2005 Don't forget to remember to shift your weight to your back foot. You don't want to still have your weight on your front foot and wind up flipping yourself riding down the hill.
