Instructions

    • 1

Learn to nollie in comfortable riding conditions: moderate speed, medium slope and good snow.

    • 2

Ride forward on your uphill rail and crouch down ready to jump.

    • 3

Transfer all your weight to your front foot and begin almost falling forward. You won't actually be able to fall forward because of your board and bindings.

    • 4

Perform the following three steps in one smooth, quick sequence.

    • 5

Pull your back foot up hard and load your weight onto your board's front to use it as a spring.

    • 6

Pop off your front foot, then lift your front leg.

    • 7

Draw your knees up as high to your chest as you can.

    • 8

Pull the board underneath you and center your weight over it in the air. Overcorrect if necessary, but try not to have your weight forward as you land.

    • 9

Extend your legs as you begin to land, but keep them bent enough to absorb the impact.

Tips & Warnings

  • Transferring your weight to the nose as you jump allows the nose of your board to act as a spring to launch you into the air.

  • Once you learn nollies, try nollie 180 and land fakie. You'll find it's almost easier than the nollie because the turning motion tends to help you on your jump.

  • Build up to nollies. Learn to ollie and jump first. Be comfortable riding your snowboard before you begin attempting tricks.

  • Snowboarding is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.

With most new boards (age wise) its semi-difficult to just lean back into a tail butter (manuel in skate terms). For some its way easier to pop into this trick. Once you follow those steps to do a nollie just keep your weight on the tail of your board and pull/balance with your front foot a bit and you'll be able to do a butter.
