How to Care for Your Slot Cars

Caring for a slot car is not unlike to caring for a real car. Regular service prevents breakdowns.

Things You'll Need:

  • Slot Car Tires
  • Compressed Airs
  • Rags
  • Rags
  • Slot Car Guide Braids
  • Degreasers
  1. Step 1

    Take your car off the track.

  2. Step 2

    Replace tires if they show wear, such as ruts or uneven areas.

  3. Step 3

    Replace the guide braids. Braids usually wear out after one or two races. Use new braids.

  4. Step 4

    Clean the car's undercarriage with a degreaser, then blow dust away with compressed air or a brush.

  5. Step 5

    Wipe top clean with a damp rag.

  6. Step 6

    Set car back on the track.

Tips & Warnings
  • Driving in a controlled manner prevents crashes and serious damage to your car.
  • Don't run your car under water. It's electrical, after all.
