Things You'll Need:
- Trapeze Rings
- Play Yard Ground Materials
- Bucket Swing Seats
- Rope
- Swing Seats
- Swing Set
- Replacement Hardware
-
Step 1
Decide on the size of your play area. Measure as necessary.
-
Step 2
Consider the number of children likely to use the equipment.
-
Step 3
Consider their ages.
-
Step 4
Check the type of surface below the equipment - you can't put a trampoline over concrete, for example.
-
Step 5
Look at any current play equipment you have. If you have one swing, you may want to add a second so children can swing together. If you have a tree nearby, you may be able to make a tire swing.
-
Step 6
See if an existing swing set can be expanded. Consider its condition and the amount of weight it can bear before adding more components to it.
-
Step 7
Call the company that made your swing set to ask for specifications and options for more fun things to add.
-
Step 8
Replace or refinish worn or weathered parts, and add more ground covering as needed.
-
Step 9
For a cheap option, get a good piece of heavy rope from a hardware store, tie a large, secure knot in the bottom, and secure it to the existing play equipment with two half hitches.
