How to Accessorize a Teddy Bear

Teddies, like dolls, can be dressed to kill or costumed for holidays, and almost anything can become a teddy accessory. Don't forget to bring home those paper umbrellas from the company cocktail party!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Miniatures
  • Baby Bibs
  • Baby Booties
  • Baby Clothes
  • Baby Hats Or Cap
  • Baby Shoes
  • Cocktail Umbrellas
  • Paper Bags
  • Doll Clothes
  • Teddy Bears

Step1
Identify a few key themes - farmer Teddy, ballet Teddy, rock 'n' roll Teddy - to keep yourself from spinning out of control.
Step2
Make a place for each one - a small paper bag will do. This way, every time you find something, you'll have a place to put it.
Step3
Keep an eye out for anything diminutive - tiny baskets given out as baby shower favors, miniature kitchen implements, baby clothes and shoes at flea markets, and doll clothes at garage sales.
Step4
Make a tiny duplicate of anything you make for your child. It doesn't have to be complicated - with a bit of brown paper and some masking tape, you can make a lunch bag; with a white paper bag and some scissors, you can make Teddy a ghost costume.
Step5
Ask all your friends and co-workers to let you have first dibs on their miniatures - you'll be amazed what people collect, especially during the holiday season.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're in a rush, see if ready-mades are available at a reasonable price. Many well-known lines (Paddington and Winnie the Pooh, for example) have incorporated clothes, hats and other accoutrements, and they may fit same-size bears of different brands.
