A living Christmas tree needs a little extra care between seasons, but it's worth it to ensure that it will be around for celebrations to come.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gardening Gloves
  • Living Christmas Trees
  • Transplant Shovels
  1. Step 1

Take all the lights and ornaments off your tree.

  2. Step 2

Find a nice place for it outside - preferably one that is a bit sheltered, since trees in pots are more vulnerable to cold. If you live in a very cold climate, keep it in a garage or cold house until the hard freeze is over; if you live in a mildly cold climate, put the tree outside and pile mulch or leaves around the pot for insulation.

  3. Step 3

Check the tree for pests every once in a while.

  4. Step 4

Water the tree if it's hot (and move it seasonally if you need to - most pines don't like too much direct sun).

  5. Step 5

Repot it if it grows significantly or if you see roots poking out the bottom.

on 11/22/2005 To keep your tree alive for next year, keep it healthy by putting a little sugar in the water and not putting it by an air vent and not putting too much stuff on the branches.
