Instructions

    • 1

Paint a flowerpot with red and green checks, or sponge paint designs on the sides. Place cotton batting around the pot dish and glue some around the top of the pot.

    • 2

Or, place a can in the center of a large square of green tissue paper or gift wrap. Gather the paper up and tie off around the top of the can with ribbon. Fluff the paper.

    • 3

Cut a few small branches from a thornbush or tree.

    • 4

Stick gumdrops on the thorns. (Don't remove and eat the candies!)

    • 5

Tie candy on the twigs with ribbon if you're using a branch without thorns.

    • 6

Trim the branches to fit in the container if necessary.

    • 7

Arrange the gumdrop branches in the container.

Tips & Warnings

  • Baskets make nice gumdrop tree containers.

  • Tie small ribbons on branches or add different candies, such as peppermints.

  • Do not pick and eat candies. You don't know if the branches have been sprayed with any type of chemical.
