You've picked your date and primped for hours. Now it's time to make your prom the memorable and special occasion you've been anticipating.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Travel in a big group. Prom is an experience most enjoyed when shared with all of your closest friends, so consider booking limousines or party buses to accommodate several couples.

  2. Step 2

Host a pre-dinner or pre-dance fiesta. Take pictures, serve appetizers and help get everyone into the prom spirit.

  3. Step 3

Plan a post-prom dance party, or a post-prom breakfast at a local 24-hour diner. Extending your evening will help to alleviate the inevitable post-prom letdown. It's your prom night - make it last!

  4. Step 4

Be safe. Avoid drinking and driving, and be aware of your surroundings at all times. The quickest way to ruin an evening is through accidents and mishaps.

  5. Step 5

Bring along a little extra money for emergencies and unexpected expenses.

  6. Step 6

Remember your camera. Make a point of snapping candid photos of your friends as they enjoy this big event.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take along your cell phone, if you have one, in case of any emergencies.

on 7/1/2006 I think it is best to go with your friends. You will only get one or two (if you're lucky maybe more) proms, and if you spend it trying to impress someone you don't know, or may find out he is a creep. I went with someone I barely knew (not to my prom, but to his) and we both spent the entire time trying to get one to ditch the other, and then I didn't want to dance with him because he was just weird and complained the entire time. I'm glad it wasn't my prom!

on 2/2/2006 You don't have to get smashed after the prom to have fun with your friends. Try things that you already enjoy. Trust me, everything is more fun. My college roommate swore that her after-prom camping trip was amazing and I found that going bowling in dresses and suits was absolutely hilarious. Plus, without the drinking it will be so much easier to remember the fun the next day.

on 12/20/2005 Prom, for me, is how I truly remember my friends from high school. It was held two weeks before graduation. The two weeks between were filled with exams and tying up loose ends. My friends and I as a group barely got any time to be together. Luckily, one pal was smart enough to take a camera along, she tracked every single one of us down (there was 14 in our group officially) and and gave us a personalized scrap book of Prom and our time together. It's been a while since I've seen some of the kids in the book, but forever I'll have the memories of that awesome night, where we danced till we couldn't breathe and ended up jumping in a hotel pool. Please, document your prom, or else you will seriously regret it later on!

on 11/22/2005 Make an effort to have a good time! Don't think about how uncomfortable your shoes are, or how you didn't win Prom King or Queen, or how your friend might be mad at you. Think about how happy you are to be out with your friends or how great it is that that special someone is your date. Be positive. Not only will you have a good time during the dance, but your memories of it will be better, too.
