With a little preparation, time doesn't have to be your enemy in the event of a heart attack. These guidelines follow the recommendations of the American Heart Association.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Call your local emergency service number - 911 or another designated number.
Step2
Drive to an emergency room if someone is having a heart attack and you can get there faster by car.
Step3
Have someone drive you to an emergency room if you are having a heart attack and can get to the hospital quicker by car, but do not drive yourself.
Step4
Administer CPR if necessary while waiting for the ambulance. (See Related eHows.)
