How to Make a Wooden Crown
You can use balsa wood to make a sturdy wooden crown ornament or door decoration without advanced woodworking tools or skills. Attach a loop of string to a small wooden crown to make a Christmas tree ornament. A larger crown can serve as a door decoration for a child's room. Paint or write the child's name across the crown, decorate it with fake jewels, princess stickers or fairy stickers and attach it to the door with adhesive poster hangers.
Things You'll Need

- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Stickers (optional)

Instructions
-

1
Draw a straight, horizontal 12-inch line on the balsa wood to form the bottom of the crown.
-
2
Add a vertical 8-inch line on each end of the base.
-
-
3
Trace the corner of a book or other rectangular object to make three equal "V" shapes across the top, starting and ending at the tops of the vertical lines. The lines of the "V" shapes should be oriented at 45-degree angles to the sides and base of the crown outline.
-
4
Cut along the outline with the craft knife to create a wooden crown shape.
-
5
Paint the crown with an even coat of tempera paint and allow it to dry thoroughly.
-
6
Decorate the crown as desired by painting designs or words, adding stickers and attaching self-adhesive plastic jewels.
