How to Repair a Magnavox TV That Loses Settings

At times, your Magnavox TV may not seem to accept a setting you want to modify. Often, audio and video settings are affected because changes are made more frequent in those areas than in others. However, just as important are the digital caption settings. For example, the caption text size may be too small, large or just not set the way you prefer. Remove the glitches by applying the factory defaults for those settings that are habitually lost.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Menu" button on the remote control.

    • 2

Use the "Up/Down" arrow buttons and select "Reset AV settings."

    • 3

Press the "Right" arrow button and the press the "OK" button.

    • 4

Press the "Menu" button on the remote control, and then use the "Up/Down" arrow buttons and press the "Features preferences" button.

    • 5

Select "Digital caption options" and then select "Reset to default," and press "OK" to confirm the new setting.

    • 6

Turn off the TV, wait 30 seconds and then turn it back on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Verify that you have pressed the "OK" button as the last step when you tried to make changes previously. Your lost settings may just not have been complete as pressing the "OK" button confirms a changes before it is actually made.

  • Some settings, such as auto-programming, which you can set to lock channels. If you do not input a four-digit pin code when required, changes to this setting and certain others will not take effect.
