1
Clean your eyelids with a warm, dampened cloth. Close your eyes and swipe the cloth across each eyelid. Pat your lids dry with a clean washcloth. Cleaning your eyelids gets rid of dirt and grit and helps make a smooth canvas for your makeup. Leave your eyelids alone for five minutes before applying makeup.

2
Cover your eyelids with makeup primer. Apply the primer in the middle of the eyelid and feather out to the edges of your lids. Gently dab the primer to the crease of your eye and down toward the lashes. Makeup primer acts as an adhesive for your eye shadow and eyeliner.

3
Powder your eyelids with translucent powder. Dip a cosmetic sponge into the translucent powder. Pat the sponge up to the crease of your eyelid and down to your lashes. Completely powder each eyelid. Translucent powder helps fully set your makeup primer.

4
Coat your eyelashes with a waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara lasts longer than regular mascara.

Tips & Warnings
Look for makeup primer at specialty makeup stores and drugstores. If you cannot find makeup primer, liquid foundation will work as a substitute. However, when using liquid foundation, your makeup may smudge faster than when you use primer.
Avoid touching your eyes whenever possible. Touching your eyes will smudge your makeup and transfer germs from your hands to the eye area.
For excess oil buildup near the eyes, gently blot it away with a white tissue. Do not rub the oil away.
Check the ingredients of any makeup you use. Certain makeup contains ingredients that may cause an allergic reaction or a rash.
