How to Make Raindrops With String and Glue
You can make a string of raindrops using a hot glue gun. Depending upon the type of hot glue stick used, the glue will dry clear or opaque. Opaque glue can be colored blue using alcohol ink to give your raindrops color. You can create a string full of multiple raindrops, or multiple lengths of strings each containing a single drop on the end. The hot glue will dry quickly allowing you to use the raindrops in your craft project, homemade mobile or window.

1
Plug your hot glue gun into an outlet. Place a hot glue stick into the back slot in the gun. Set the hot glue gun aside to warm up.
-
2
Cut three to four pieces of string, each 10-inches in length with a pair of scissors. Tie one end of each string to the bottom of a clothes hanger. Space the strings out evenly along the bottom of the hanger.

3
Hang the hanger on a back of a chair or over a doorknob. Choose the loose end of one of the strings and pinch it between your thumb and forefinger. Pull the string downward until it is taut.
-
4
Squeeze a drop of hot glue from the hot glue gun onto the top of the string. Use enough so the glue droplet drips slightly down the string and forms a raindrop shape. Move the glue gun small circles as you pull it away from the drop of glue to break any glue strings. Continue to add glue drops to the string, working your way downward. Space the drops 1 to 2 inches apart.
-
5
Continue to hold the string until each glue drop raindrop is dry. Release the end of the string and choose another string. Add drops of glue to each of the remaining strings.
-
6
Dip a small paint brush into blue alcohol ink. Brush the ink onto the surface of each glue drop to dye them blue. Let the ink dry.
-
7
Untie your strings of raindrops from the clothes hanger. Hang your raindrops in a window, from a mobile or attach to a craft project for display.
