How to Make a Swamp Monster

A clear measuring cup with a large enough capacity can be used to measure and mix the drink.

A swamp monster is a mixed drink based off of spiced rum, a liquor that is created from fermented sugar cane or molasses. The spice comes from adding cinnamon to the mix at some point. A swamp monster will have a bit of a muddy color, due to the mix of orange juice and dark soda. This muddy color, combined with the little bit of spice that comes from the hot sauce, is why the drink is called a swamp monster.

Things You'll Need

• Glass or plastic marked measuring cup
• Orange juice
• Root beer or cola
• Glass tumbler capable of holding 12 fluid ounces or more
• Spiced rum
• Vodka
• Hot sauce
• Spoon
• Ice (optional)

Instructions

1. Measure 1/2 cup of orange juice, and pour it into your tumbler. Measure out a 1/2 cup of root beer and add that to your glass as well.

2. Measure 1/4 cup of vodka and 1/4 cup of spiced rum, and add that to your glass.

3. Add a spoon full of hot sauce, and stir with your spoon. Add ice.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are not a big fan of spice, add less of the hot sauce. Just a dash will still leave some heat, but not enough to be too spicy to drink.

• You can adjust the ratios of orange juice to root beer and spiced rum to vodka; the important thing is to have 1/2 cup total of liquor and 1 full cup of the soda and orange juice mixture.

• This drink has a lot of relatively high proof alcohol; do not drive or operate heavy machinery after drinking this.
