The mohawk is a popular hairstyle among males and females.

Giving your friend or family member a mohawk is a fairly simple process. First, understand the characteristics of a mohawk hairstyle. Mohawks are hairstyles in which the hair is shaved on both sides of the head, and the hair on top of the head is left medium to long and styled to stand up straight. Instructions

Brush the hair thoroughly so there are no tangles. Use a comb to section your hair for the amount of hair that you would like in your mohawk. Some mohawks are thick, others are thin; it's all personal preference. Make sure your parts are straight and that your mohawk is centered. Clip the section of hair so it is separate from the rest. This section of hair should run from the forehead to the nape of your neck.

Shave the rest of the hair that has not been sectioned off. Depending on the quality of your clippers and the length of your hair, it may be better for you to trim the rest of your hair with scissors first and then shave the rest of the hair off afterward. Take care so you don't cut into the section of hair that you have clipped back. Make sure that the hair in the shaved areas is all the same length, and be sure not to leave any loose pieces. .

Comb out the section of hair that will be your mohawk. Using trimming shears, trim the hair to your desired length. Some people like the length of the hair in their mohawk to be the same from the front of the head to the back. Others trim mohawks so the hair closest to the forehead and the neck is shorter than that in the middle.

Shower to rinse off any bits of shaved hair from your body. Blow dry your mohawk. Apply gel or hairwax to the dry hair and pull hair upward to style. You may have to help hold your hair up while the gel dries in order to keep the style of the mohawk.
