How to Make a Homemade Friendship Bracelet & Necklace
A homemade gift is a great way to honor a friend. You can make a friendship bracelet and necklace from a variety of materials and designs. One appealing approach is to make your friendship bracelet and necklace out of knotted embroidery floss. You use the same method for both types of jewelry, simply lengthening or shortening the piece depending on which one you wish to make.
Instructions

1
Group four strands of embroidery floss and knot on one end to hold the four together. The length of the strands will depend upon the size of the intended jewelry wearer and whether you are making a bracelet or necklace.
-
2
Tape the knotted end to a table to hold it in place and separate the four strands.

3
Use one hand to hold strand two straight and the other hand to loop strand one around strand two and then pull the loop into a knot. Carry out the exact same process so that strand one has created two knots around strand two. Be certain to pull the knots snug to the top of strand two.
-
4
Repeat the double-knot process with strand one by creating loops around strand three and then strand four. After knotting around strand four, strand one will now be at the end and strand two will be the first strand.
-
5
Create double knots using strand two to loop around strands three, four and one. Two moves to the end and the original strand three will now be used to double knot.
-
6
Continue using the strand in the first position to knot across the other strands until the bracelet or necklace is as long as you wish for it to be in length.
-
7
Create a knot with all four strands at the end of your work. Trim any excess below the knot. Tie the two ends together so that they create a circle that can slip over your friend's hand or neck.

Tips & Warnings
Carefully plan the order in which you lay out your strand colors. Choose colors that coordinate well side-by-side. The order in which you place your strands will determine the order of the colors of the jewelry.
