Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut 7 inches of the fold-over elastic. Fold the elastic in half.

    • 2

Tie the loose ends in a knot. Cut any excess elastic from the ends of the knot.

    • 3

Measure and cut the three colors of ribbon in 6-inch strips. After all the ribbon is cut, you should have six strips of each color.

    • 4

Coat the ends of each strip with fabric stiffener to prevent fraying. Allow the fabric stiffener to dry.

    • 5

Tie a strip of ribbon on the elastic band you made. Loop the ribbon through the band. Cross each end over another, and loop one end through the hole created, like the first step in tying your shoes. Secure the ribbon tightly to the elastic band.

    • 6

Tie the remaining strips of ribbon to the elastic band until all the ribbon strips are attached to the elastic band. Alternate colors to create a pattern.

    • 7

Section your hair down the back of your head into two equal parts. Place the ribbon-decorated elastic bands into your piggy tails.
