How to Get a Newspaper Print Look on Fingernails

If you are looking for a way to add special effects to the finish of your fingernails, try doing a newspaper print manicure. There is a simple do-it-yourself method that allows you to achieve professional looking results without the hassle and expense of going to a costly salon. Try this method and your fingernails will be picture perfect before you know it.

Things You'll Need

• 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
• Small bowl
• Light colored nail polish
• 10 fingernail-sized strips of newspaper
• Clear nail polish

Instructions

1. Pour the rubbing alcohol into a small bowl. Set the bowl aside.

2. Use light colored nail polish to polish fingernails as normal.

3. Allow the nails to dry completely.

4. Place a fingernail into the bowl of rubbing alcohol. Soak the nail for 10-15 seconds and remove from the bowl.

5. Place a fingernail-sized newspaper strip onto the fingernail.

6. Press the strip onto the nail for 30-45 seconds.

7. Remove and discard the used newspaper strip.

8. Repeat steps 4-7 on each fingernail.

9. Apply a coat of clear nail polish to each fingernail. Allow the polish to dry completely.

Tips & Warnings

• If you do not have access to rubbing alcohol, vodka may be used as a substitute.

• Avoid using dark color nail polish for this decorating method. Using dark polish may make the newspaper print difficult to see on the fingernails.
