How to Make Camouflage Paint on a Jet Ski

Give your jet ski a new look.

Camouflage patterns are typically painted in green shades to conceal objects in forest environments. If you intend to alter a jet ski body by painting a camouflage pattern, you may decide to opt for blue and gray paints instead to help your jet ski blend in with the colors of the water. Spray paint the camouflage pattern onto your jet ski at home rather than taking it to a shop to get the exact pattern you want without spending a fortune.

  • Branch with leaves
  • Large tarp

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your jet ski on a tarp on the ground. Tape off the instrument panel, windshield and hand controls. Remove the seat.

    • 2

Find a branch that is half as long as the jet ski that has fully intact leaves evenly spaced apart.

    • 3

Spray the black or dark gray paint on the body of the jet ski, covering every part that is not covered in tape. Wait one hour for the paint to dry.

    • 4

Lay the branch on the body of the jet ski and hold the can of olive drab or dark blue paint a foot above it. Spray the paint through the leaves onto the jet ski. Slide the branch over the surface area of the jet ski as you spray the paint to create an evenly spaced leaf pattern on the body of the jet ski. Let the paint dry for one hour.

    • 5

Repeat Step 4, using the brown or blue spray paint. Give the paint one hour to dry.

    • 6

Repeat Step 4, exchanging the olive drab or dark blue paint with the tan or light gray paint. Let the paint dry for another hour.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you decide to camouflage paint your jet ski you will be less visible on the waterways to other water craft operators. Exercise caution when operating your jet ski around other water crafts to avoid collisions.
