How to Make Your Own Celebrity Look Alike Costumes

Become a celebrity look-alike by studying how the celebrity dresses.

If you want to dress as a celebrity for Halloween or a costume party, choose a celebrity that has an easily recognizable physical feature or overall style. You can pull off the look-alike attempt successfully when you focus on, and accentuate, the things that the celebrity is known for. As you begin to prepare for your costume, study the celebrity to see what types of clothing and accessories are most notable. Then, take inventory of your closet to see if you already own clothing items that can be combined to achieve the celebrity's look.

Things You'll Need

• Jeans
• Boxer shorts
• Scarf
• White tank top
• Tight-fitting jacket
• Dreads wig
• Sunglasses
• Styrofoam cup
• Black leggings
• Shirt with shoulder pads
• Stilettos/platform shoes
• Makeup
• Embellishments
• Spirit gum
• Blonde wig
• Long fake nails
• Black suit pants
• Black blazer
• Black bowler hat
• Black bow tie
• White dress shirt
• Cane

Instructions

Lil' Wayne

1. Rummage through your closet for a pair of destroyed jeans. If you are willing to destroy a pair of your nice jeans, you can do so for this costume by cutting small tears into the knees and thigh sections.

2. Wear your boxer shorts and put on your jeans. Leave your jeans sagging off of your rear, exposing your boxer shorts.

3. Put on a white tank top with a tight-fitted jacket over it. Tie a scarf around your neck

4. Find a dreadlocks wig to wear on your head. Lil' Wayne is notorious for his dreaded hair. This is an outfit accessory that you may need to purchase or rent from the costume supply store.

5. Wear sunglasses and carry around a Styrofoam cup for additional accessories.

Lady Gaga

1. Find the tightest pants that you own, such as black leggings. If you have black, tight leather pants those will work, too.

2. Wear a shirt with shoulder pads. Lady Gaga is well known for her tops that exaggerate the shoulders and frame her neck.

3. Put on your highest heels. Stilettos or platform shoes work best for a Gaga outfit.

4. Apply heavy makeup in bright colors. Put dark colors on your eyes and create a dramatic effect by making eyeshadow wings that extend past the edge of your eye. Embellish your makeup with sequins or jewels that you can glue to your skin with spirit gum. Outline your lips with a deep red lipliner and fill in your lips with lipstick.

5. Wear your hair curled to one side, or in a high ponytail. If you do not have blonde hair, you can bleach your hair for the look-alike outfit or find a blonde wig at the store.

6. Put on fake long nails for a final touch. Paint the nails black or red.

Charlie Chaplin

1. Put on black suit pants, a white dress shirt and a black blazer. If you happen to have a black tuxedo jacket with tails, this is a more appropriate jacket for the Charlie Chaplin costume.

2. Tie a black bow tie around your neck, and wear a black bowler hat.

3. Accessorize your look alike costume with a cane that you hold and lean against. You can also draw on a black mustache above your upper lip. If you stay silent and communicate through exaggerated actions, people will be sure to know that you are portraying Charlie Chaplin.

Tips & Warnings

• You could also wear costumes based on celebrity characters, such as Capt. Jack Sparrow or Harry Potter.
