1
Arrange transportation. A sagebrush mower will require a trailer for transportation. You must have access to a vehicle in which you can tow a trailer and access to a trailer if the rental company does not provide one for you.
-
2
Find a farm equipment rental company in your phone book or find an online-based rental company (see Resources.)
-
-
3
Advise the rental company of the type of tractor you own and the connection type. Most tractors use a PTO shaft, which is a drive shaft that extends from the back of the mower. Advise the rental company of the engine size or horsepower output of your tractor so they can fit you with a sagebrush mower that will work with your tractor. You can obtain this information about your tractor in the owner's manual.

4
Schedule a pickup date and a drop off date and then make payment when you pick up the equipment. Farm equipment is often abused. Do not make full payment until you inspect the equipment to ensure it is in good condition and meets your needs. However, a deposit is often required when you reserve over the phone.

5
Pick up the sagebrush mower at the scheduled time for pickup. Again, inspect the equipment for obvious defects such as missing parts, large cracks in the mower deck housing or excessive grease deposits around the PTO shaft.
