How to Make a Couple's Veil
A couple's veil is a veil used in Filipino wedding ceremonies. Made of lace, silk or tulle, this veil is placed over the bride's head or shoulders and the groom's shoulders as they stand or kneel at the altar after the couple has been pronounced man and wife. A special prayer is recited as the veil is placed on the couple. The veil originally represented the couple living together under God's protection, but in more recent times has come to symbolize purity as well.

1
Choose a material of your choice. Silk, tulle, and lace are most commonly used, but other materials such as satin work too. The fabric should be white to symbolize purity and unity.
-
2
Leave the fabric close to its original size -- about six feet long. The couple's veil should be big enough to loosely drape over the bride and groom, with the edges reaching past their wrists once it's on their shoulders.

Serge or fold the edges of the veil in to finish them. Sew along the fold. Trim the edges of the couple's veil in lace or beaded trim to accent it. Sew the trim to the veil.
