How to Make a Teaser Portfolio

How to Make a Teaser Portfolio thumbnail
A teaser portfolio should entice people to explore more of your work.

A teaser portfolio promotes your work and tries to entice people to explore your portfolio more. The teaser portfolio requires you to present just enough to "tease" an audience, which means finding a balance between showing off some of your work, but saving some for your complete portfolio or presentation. A successful teaser portfolio will make people interested enough in a piece or collection of work that they will want to take more time to look into it further.

Instructions

    • 1

Go through a collection of your creative or professional works to choose three of your best and most diverse pieces. For example, a writing portfolio could have a short story, a non-fiction piece and a poem; a photography portfolio could have a portrait, a landscape and an action shot. Choose work that shows your skills, but leaves the audience wanting more from an exhibition event or published format.

    • 2

Cut out your selections if necessary, such as if they were newspaper clippings or photos that need to be cropped. Layout the pieces within the teaser portfolio so they have enough room to each have a strong presence. The space surrounding your pieces should be simple, white or gray space, so that the audience is not distracted from the portfolio elements.

    • 3

Glue the pieces in place within your teaser portfolio book. The pieces can be accompanied with text or resume information to fill out blank pages, but you can also bind your own book to make it teaser-length, about several pages.
