You, too, can have Kim Kardashian's curls.

Recreate Kim Kardashian's signature look by curling your locks with barrel rollers. If you have never used barrel rollers, do not fret; the process is simple to do and leaves you with dramatic results. The style works best on women who have long hair like Kim; however, women with medium-length hair can also do the style with a smaller roller. Once the look is complete, consider trying out other styles that Kim does with her curly hair such as the low, side ponytail and high back ponytail. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash hair with a shampoo that is tailored to your hair type. Skip conditioning while washing your hair; this will soften your hair and the curls may not hold correctly. Blot hair with a towel to remove the moisture and apply a hair detangler. Comb through your hair with a wide-tooth comb to remove tangles.

    • 2

Spray hair with a heat-protectant spray to combat against the heat of the hairdryer and hot rollers. In addition, the spray will protect your hair against ultraviolet rays throughout the day. Comb through to distribute evenly.

    • 3

Separate hair horizontally and clip the upper hair section to the top of your head. Dry the bottom section of hair with a hairdryer until your hair is slightly damp. Repeat with the upper half. Your hair will be slightly damp when curled; this allows for your hair to dry around the curlers.

    • 4

Apply a quarter-sized amount of styling gel to your hands and rub them together. Work the gel through your tresses from tips to roots.

    • 5

Comb a 2-inch section of hair at the bang area upward. Wrap the tip of the hair around the barrel roller, and roll downward towards the scalp. Hold the roller in place and pin or clip the roller to the scalp. Repeat with another section of hair behind the first curler.

    • 6

Roll your hair all down the back of your head and then move to the sides. The rollers do not need to be in a straight line; however, they should all be facing the same direction. Spray hair lightly with the hairspray and leave for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the hair dries.

    • 7

Remove the rollers and let the curls flow to your shoulders. Use a paddle brush to pull through the curls so they loosen and cascade down your shoulders.

    • 8

Heat a 3-inch-diameter curling iron to high heat. Use the curling iron to touch up curls where you want more definition, such as around the face, or to create ringlet type curls in the back. Kim is known for perfect spiral curls intertwined with the waves; therefore, add a few spiral curls by curling a 2-inch section of hair at an angle.

    • 9

Spray hair lightly with hairspray and apply a misting of a shine spray.

Tips & Warnings

  • Speed up the curling process by drying the rollers with the hairdryer. Set the hairdryer to medium heat and hold 5 inches from the curlers.

  • Wash hair the night before to cut down on time. You can wet the hair in the morning by spraying a light mist of water to your hair before curling.
