How Do You Register a Clan or Horde on 'Second Life'?

Second Life groups are made up of unique versions of the clans, hordes and guilds found in other virtual worlds. As with clans or hordes, group membership gives members certain benefits, including special titles and permissions to activate certain objects, travel to certain lands owned by group members and own land jointly. Membership also enables you to use a joint group Second Life bank account. You can create and register a group if you pay 100 Second Life Linden dollars and get at least one other member to sign up within 48 hours.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Second Life viewer and log in to your account.

    • 2

Click "Communicate," then select "My Groups" in your Second Life viewer. Click the "Add" button and click "New Group."

    • 3

Type a name for your group in the text box at the top. Enter information about the group in the "Group Charter" text box. Drag an image to the "Group Insignia" box to create an insignia for your new group.

    • 4

Click the "Anyone Can Join" check box if you want your group to have open enrollment. If it isn't checked, members can join only by invitation.

    • 5

Enter a cost to join the group in Lindens, the Second Life currency. Leave the amount blank to make your group free to join.

    • 6

Click "Create Group." Click "Create Group for L$100" in the confirmation window.

Tips & Warnings

  • Different Second Life viewers may have slightly different menu choices and text field names, but the same information is required to create and register a group.

  • If you don't add at least one member to the group in 48 hours from the time the group is created, the group will be automatically disbanded. You won't receive a refund for your creation fee.
