How to Fix the Color on "StarCraft: Brood War"

"StarCraft: Brood War" is a sci-fi-themed, real-time strategy game released in 1998. Due to the game's age, it may not play nicely with newer operating systems. A common issue encountered while playing "StarCraft: Brood War" on Windows Vista and Windows 7 is an odd coloring effect that washes out the game's units and backgrounds. Although this does not impact performance, the issue is annoying and can be a hindrance when trying to identify units. This issue can be resolved by running the game in Windows XP mode.
