When your hair has been parted the same way for a while, the tension on the hair at the base of your part may cause the follicles to break easier. Give the hair around the part a rest by creating a new part and adding different elements to your hair-styling routine. Whether the parting is due to thinning hair or just overall damage, take some steps to cover it up.

Prevent thinning hair, especially around where your part is, from damage. Hair is at its weakest when it's wet, so don't blow dry your hair straight out of the shower. Allow it to air dry for about 20 minutes before styling it. Hair breakage can also occur from tight ponytails or braids.

Train your hair to lie differently by creating a new part. Brush your hair back when you get out of the shower and draw a new part along your scalp with a fine-tooth comb. Style hair as normal with this new part. Draw your new part every time you get out of the shower. This will help cover up hair loss that may have gained with your old part.

Use a hair crayon on your scalp. Try to match the hair crayon as close to your hair color as possible. This will help your scalp blend in with your hair and make the area less noticeable.

Wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo to help thicken each of your hair follicles. This will create the illusion of thicker and fuller hair which may help cover up the parting.
