How to Clear Missing Songs in iTunes

You cannot sync missing songs in iTunes with iPods.

ITunes lets you import music from your computer's hard drive to your iTunes library for playback inside the program. After you import a song into iTunes, it remains listed in your iTunes library until you attempt to play it. If you have deleted the song from your hard drive, iTunes notifies you that the song cannot be found on your hard drive. Clear missing songs listed in your iTunes library in a few clicks.

Instructions

1. Click a song in your iTunes library that displays an exclamation point to its far left. This highlights the missing song. To highlight multiple missing songs, hold down "Ctrl" while clicking them.

2. Press the "Delete" key on your keyboard while the song is highlighted. A confirmation window appears.

3. Click the "Remove" button in the confirmation window to remove the missing song or songs from your iTunes library.
