How to Stream From a Laptop to a TV With No Delay
As a growing amount of programming becomes available online as on-demand video streams, you may be spending more time watching your computer than the television. Fortunately, you can have both the convenience of streaming on the computer and the comfort of watching the television by connecting your laptop to the computer. There are two ways you can connect the two devices: with standard VGA cables or with a VGA to TV cable.

Check your television's owner's manual to determine whether it supports VGA or PC input. If so, you can connect your computer to the television with standard VGA cables. Continue to Step 2 if your television supports VGA input. If not, you can still connect your computer if its graphics card supports NTSC or TV output. Check your computer's owner's manual to determine whether it supports NTSC output. If so, skip to Step 3.

Locate your computer's VGA output port. These ports are usually color coded blue, are rectangular and have 15 pinholes. The television's VGA input port will look identical and may be labeled something like "PC In" or "VGA In." Connect one end of the cable to each port. Click the "Start" button on your computer and select "Control Panel" in the menu that opens. Click "Appearance and Personalization" then select "Connect to a projector." Consult your television's owner's manual to determine how to set it to display the computer input.

Connect the VGA end of a VGA to TV cable to your computer's VGA output port. Connect the yellow RCA cable to the corresponding yellow RCA input port to the television. You can also supply input to the television by connecting an S-Video cable. Click the "Start" button, select "Control Panel" then "Appearance and Personalization." Click "Connect to a TV." Check your television's owner's manual to determine how to make it display the input supplied by the laptop. This is usually accomplished by pressing an "Input" or "AUX" button on the remote control.

Tips & Warnings
You will also need to send sound signals if you want to use the television's speakers instead of your laptop's. Use a stereo mini-plug to RCA cable to connect your laptop's headphone output port to the television's red and white RCA inputs.
