How to Make a Cherokee Wrap Around Skirt
Fabric stores typically carry a variety of faux suede fabrics perfect for a Cherokee wrap around skirt. These faux suede fabrics do not ravel and eliminate time-consuming fabric edge finishing and hemming. This skirt also eliminates any seam stitching with its wrap around construction. Pair this sleek and stylish skirt with a wool sweater and a pair of leather boots, and you have put together an outfit perfect for fall or winter weather.

1
Measure around your waste and increase the measurement by half. Draw a line on the craft paper to the measurement.
-
2
Measure from your waist to the desired length of the finished skirt. Draw a second line on the craft paper parallel to the first line, with the distance of the skirt length between the two lines.
-
-
3
Increase the bottom line 3 inches on both ends. Draw lines connecting the two parallel lines for the skirt template. Cut out the template.
-
4
Pin the template to the ultra suede. Cut out the ultra suede.
-
5
Cut a buttonhole to a size that will accommodate the button with the scissors at one top edge of the skirt at the waist, 1 inch from the top and side edges of the fabric.
-
6
Wrap the skirt around your waist and insert a pin at the spot on the waist that will accommodate the buttonhole. Sew on the button with the needle and thread.
