How to Occupy a Baby

If you are a first-time parent, you may want to devote all of your time and energy to making sure you are spending enough time with your baby. However, this isn't always possible, especially when you have to juggle multiple responsibilities. You can occupy your baby with stimulating activities while you multitask without worrying about your child's well-being.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up your baby's play area. Use a play pen or a baby gate if you know that you will have to leave the room in which your baby is playing to ensure the child's safety.

    • 2

Install a mobile in the child's play area; the slowly spinning objects will draw your baby's attention and help keep him occupied while you work.

    • 3

Provide pop-up books that feature bright colors and unique textures for your baby to experience. The book does not need to have text, but exposing your baby to words, shapes and textures will help stimulate all of the senses.

    • 4

Give your baby stimulating toys to play with, Provide toys with a variety of textures and colors, such as stuffed animals, wooden building blocks and even some pots and pans to make music on. Different kinds of toys will help develop hand-eye coordination and motor skills.
