How to Embroider a Logo on the Side of a Cap

Embroidering can make an ordinary piece of clothing unique and personalized. If you own your own small business, you can embroider the company logo onto a cap to promote your business. If you create a template for the logo, you can embroider the logo yourself without having to contact a specialty store.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a template for your embroidering on lined graph paper. Draw each individual stitch, using an "X" in the squares on the graphing paper to represent the stitches.

    • 2

Pin the graphing paper with the embroidery template to the side of the cap you want to embroider, with the stitches you have drawn facing towards you. Use sewing pins so that the template will be held firmly in place as you work.

    • 3

Thread your sewing needle with the colored thread you are going to use. If your logo uses several colors, begin from the bottom right side of the logo and move your way to the left.

    • 4

Begin your first stitch by pulling the needle and thread up through the cap so that the first stitch corresponds with the stitch on your graphing paper template. Line the needle up with the stitch on the paper and pull the needle back through the graphing paper and the cap to complete the first stitch.

    • 5

Continue stitching, using your template to align the stitches properly on the cap. Change the color of the thread as needed, making sure that the knotted end of the thread is on the inside of the cap.

    • 6

Tie off the thread on the inside of the cap once you have finished stitching the logo on the side of the cap.
