How to Make Yourself Mysterious on the Phone
The phone allows you to present yourself in any way you see fit. If you're talking to someone who has never met you, his impressions are based solely off that phone call and you can manipulate that impression with your tone of voice, choice of words and overall persona. A sense of mystery develops when the other person can't figure out something about you or has a sense of curiosity. Use a voice disguiser, which is a device that attaches to the phone handset. It alters your voice when you speak into it, causing it to be deeper or otherwise distorted. The other person will likely recognize that you're not using your real voice, and mystery is then created because he'll wonder why.

Whisper if you are not using a voice disguiser. This again alters your voice to an unusual tone that a listener is not used to hearing. Speaking in a whisper or a lower tone will result in the listener wondering what you're hiding, creating mystery in the process.

Speak cryptically by not answering questions directly and by answering questions with questions of your own. The more you withhold information, the more curious the listener will be to find out that information.
