Instructions

  1. Making the hat

    • 1

Lay the paper flat with the short end horizontal to your body. Take the top corners of the paper and fold the paper in half. The fold will be the top edge.

    • 2

Fold the top corners down to the middle. The top will now be in the shape of a triangle.

    • 3

Fold the bottom flap (just the top one) in half. Fold the bottom flap up again. The shape will look like a paper sailor hat.

    • 4

Flip the paper over. The triangle point will remain facing up.

    • 5

Take the left side and right side and fold them together to meet in the middle. The shape will look like a triangle on top off a square.

    • 6

Fold the top point down with the tip tucking under the band. The shape will look like a square.

    • 7

Fold the bottom corners in. It does not matter if the corners meet.

    • 8

Fold the bottom section in half. Fold the bottom up again and tuck the first fold into the band.

    • 9

Pick the hat up and open gently from the bottom with thumbs in the middle. Place the hat on your head.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will have to experiment with paper size depending on the size hat you are trying to make.
