How to Improve Rune Essence
Rune essence is raw material used to craft runes in the online role-playing game "RuneScape." After completing the Rune Mysteries quest, players unlock several elements to the Runecrafting skill and gain access to the Rune Essence mine. Upon entering a Runecrafting altar, players can bind essence with the power of the altar to create runes. Rune essence allows you to craft several low-level runes, including air, mind, water, earth, fire and body. To craft higher-level runes, such as law, cosmic and chaos, you must use an improved form of rune essence, also known as pure essence.

Train your Mining to Level 30. You can train your Mining by using a pickaxe on any ore rock in mines throughout Gielinor.

Travel to a rune essence mine. Wizard Cromperty in East Ardougne, Wizard Distentor in the Magic Guild, Gnome Wizard Brimstail in Tree Gnome Stronghold, Aubry in the Varrock Magic Store and Sedridor in the Wizards Tower can teleport you to a rune essence mine.

Click the pickaxe in your inventory and click the rune essence mine. Your character mines pure essence.

Tips & Warnings
You must be a member player to mine pure essence.
Players with at least 30 mining will automatically mine pure essence. Players with less than 30 mining will mine rune essence from a rune essence mine.
Although players can use rune essence to craft only low-level runes, players can use pure essence to craft any rune.
There are several other methods to obtain pure essence, including the Grand Exchange, playing the Great Orb Project activity and as drops from several monsters.
